Dawn over the Ionian Sea. The sky is ablaze with gold and purple — night releases the earth, and day has yet to be born. It is the hour when the elements gather for counsel.
In the distance, in a transparent haze, a snow-white temple hovers. It is not built yet. It will soon enter the minds of people — as a promise, as the future sanctuary of Calabria.
In the foreground stands Themis. The goddess of justice, blindfolded, with a sword and scales. She does not judge — she observes. Nearby is a golden cornucopia spilling coins; a clay jug; a bundle of red peppers; an olive branch. On a stone lies a coin depicting a serpent entwined around a staff. This symbol embodies wisdom, healing, immortality, and connection to the earth.
To the right are the ruins of an ancient temple: some columns still stand, others have fallen. Everything is washed in the first light. A stony path leads upward to the ruins. The sea is calm, and the mountains on the horizon still sleep.
This dawn remembers everything — Doric columns, Arabic calligraphy, Byzantine mosaics. But most importantly, it carries within it the future. Soon, the temple hovering in the distance will descend to the earth. Soon, thought will become stone.
“The Dawn that Remembers” is a dawn that recalls the past, sees the present, and already knows what the sanctuary will be like.
